Back in 1971 this original novel came out. A story of psychological terror that can be considered a reference for all those great authors and their great works of this genre that were lavished back in the 80's with Stephen King to the head.

It is not that terror as a literary argument had not been treated profusely up to that moment with, for example, a prop like Edgar Allan Poe that already at the beginning of the XIX century he took a step further in his more Gothic romantic heritage and threw himself into the open grave to narrate all kinds of horrors.

But in the early 70s with psychedelic movements in full swing, this story delved into that of the psyche, its power, its connection with other dimensions that may be occupied by evil. Thus, in "The Other" he ends up making an argument about the mind, madness, the powers of our neural connections, a powerful mix on a part of the human that is never fully deciphered and therefore offers suggestive possibilities. .

The twins Holland and Niles live in a quiet New England village. A pleasant summer of 1935 passes by. An idyllic setting in which those contrasts sought after in this story end up awakening even more. Because under the peaceful setting we learn of gloomy events that have been linked around the Perry family. And our suspicions soon hover over the connection between the twins, capable of telepathy in which a new world opens up above the common reality.

The game of appearances appears then also with a special taste of the reader who seems to decipher in the good brother, Niles, some kind of secret that could well be a general mask for that other telepathic reality in which he connects with his brother. De Holland, with his wayward attitude that unnerves everyone, we can understand that perhaps he is a necessary defense mechanism.

When they both discovered that they had that other plane in which to interact without anyone knowing, it was magnificent. As his mental power spread to other realms and something wicked began to interfere like a maddening noise, the matter was no longer pleasant. And the consequences were becoming more and more dire ...
