Billy Summers from Stephen King

When Stephen King focuses, from the title of his novel and so clearly, on a character, we can fasten our belts because there are curves. It is not that we are going to find perhaps his best novel (or perhaps yes). What is clear is that we are going to enjoy one of his amazing trips to the human psyche.

It happened with «The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon"Or Carrietta White from" Carrie. " Absolute characters on which pivots a world absorbed by that very particular, and almost always dark, prism of the protagonist on duty. And we already know that the question is to deform everything, transform what exists, always under human perception, to end up reaching fear or guilt capable of overshadowing even the sunniest day.

Today it's up to Billy, a former military man decorated for his performance in Iraq, a guy as lonely as the girl abandoned in the forest who loved Tom Gordon or as Carrie peeking out into the wildest fury in the face of the hatred of others ...

Each one copes with his philias and phobias as best he can and they leave him. The fact that Billy always has his pistol loaded is nothing more than a part of a job he would like to give up forever. If it is easy for you to hide once your victim falls to the ground dejected as the last assignment, why can you not do the same with whoever you are ordered to kill?

But perhaps they are not the ones who end up looking for him if he manages to escape from everything. Because by killing others something inside is disconnected from this world to be able to execute in a cold and painless way for the conscience. And there you are selling your soul to a devil yearning for more and more death.

Although his name sounds like a party, Billy Summers is going to plunge into the worst winter he has ever known. The point is that you will go with him, without knowing very well the reasons that push you to hell whoever he wants to go.

What is clear is that Billy wants to quit, but he still has one last blow left. And being one of the best snipers in the world, a decorated Iraq war veteran, a true Houdini when it comes time to disappear after finishing a job, what could possibly go wrong? Everything.
